Fields of Study
Civil Engineering (CVEG) is a multi-faceted field. Professionals in our field grace multiple touchpoints in our society.
Civil Engineers design, maintain, and operate the major frameworks in our communities. Think about the many buildings, roadways and systems at play in your hometown — there are carefully placed infrastructures in place, and civil engineers are at the core of them.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation engineering is the study of how to get from Point A to B, traffic flow, road layout, and road materials.
STRUCTURAL
Structural engineering is a field that studies structural responses to applied loads. Think bridges, buildings and more!
ENVIRONMENTAL
Environmental engineering is the study and protection of water, air, soils, and sediments.
GEOTECH
Geotechnical engineering is the study of soil and rock behavior within natural and engineered structures.

UA CVEG Degree Programs
The program in Civil Engineering is designed to provide the basic undergraduate education required for private practice and public service in Transportation, Environmental, Structural and Geotechnical engineering.
Courses are designed to present “real world” applications without sacrificing conceptual and theoretical basics. Students complete design problems in each of our core study areas; and, as part of the senior year, they participate in two major design projects.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org.
